    What is Life Certificate ?

    A life Certificate or Jeevan Praman is an important document issued to the Pensioners by the Indian Government. It is a biometric-enabled service provided to pensioners in India. This certificate is applicable to only those who are an employee of the Central government, State government or any other government organisation. From the Jeevan praman website  the Pension Disbursing Agency can check with the life certificate and download the same.
    A digital life Certificate (DLC) is given to the pensioners based on their Aadhaar number and biometrics. It means the Jeevan Praman uses the Aadhar card details of pensioners for authentication. Once the verification is done, the Digital life certificate gets stored in a repository, that is accessible to government officials only. The pension releasing agencies will access the certificate online and disburse the pensions respectively.

    In India, more than 1 crore families are based on pensions. The Pension disbursing agency disperse the pensions as income to such families by various government bodies to maintain sustainability. Around 50 lakhs pensioners are from central government bodies, and the rest of them are from the state government, Union Territories government, and many other government agencies. Also, army and defense personnel that get pensions are around 25 lakhs in the country.
    Issuing a digital life certificate followed by the Pensioners Scheme by the Indian government known as Jeevan Praman is a method to digitize this whole process and make it secure and safe for pensioners. Through this digital certificate, the pension releasing authority will be able to disburse the monthly income to the pensioners at a single platform, just by knowing the pensioner ID (Jeevan Praman Certificate ID). Hence, it becomes much easier for pensioners to avail themselves the amount hassle-free.
    Pensioners, who have digital life certificates, need not to stand in a queue in front of disbursing agencies or the certificate issuing officials.

    Life Certificate Validity

    A life certificate is not valid for a lifetime. The validity is specified by the Pension Sanctioning Authority as per government norms. After the validity period is over, a new Jeevan pramaan id needs to be generated.

    A life certificate or Jeevan Praman is a document given to the pensioners of India so that they can avail the benefits under the Pensioners Scheme by the Indian government in a hassle-free way.
    There are two options to apply for a life certificate.
    • The applicant can directly download the application in their PC/Mobile/Tablet through the official website of Jeevan Praman (https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/) and follow the instructions
    • Or else applicant can go directly to the nearest located centers such as CSCs, by finding the location of their current address on the website directly
    Go to the official website https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/ and provide your email id. A download link will be sent to your email address with a zip file. Open the file and download it.
    Jeevan Praman is a biometric Aadhar number based digital life certificate, issued to the pensioners of India to help them get hassled free monthly income as per their designation from which they retired. The Digital life certificate is generated based on the pensioner’s aadhaar number and biometrics. Once they have been verified as valid pensioners, the Pension Disbursing agency will process the monthly income and other benefits as per the government rules.

    To avail this facility, the pension sanctioning authority (PSA) should be registered with Jeevan Pramaan.
    With effect from February 12, 2014, functionality of furnishing the foreign remittance details in Form 15CA and its related features have been discontinued from TIN and same are made available on the e-filing portal of Income Tax Department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
    DLC is generated for an individual and is made available to the pension disbursing authority digitally.
